Key Additions: Eric Bledsoe, Alex Len, Caron Butler, Emeka Okafor
Key Departures: Marcin Gortat
The Suns have been a very active team in trying to improve, the improvements however are destined to pay dividends in the future rather than this season. Adding Eric Bledsoe is an excellent move and will give this team one of the great young talents in this league at guard. Alex Len was one of the draft days biggest prizes and will look to pay dividends down the road as he is a 7-footer who plays great on both ends of the court while being an efficient scored and a beat on the glass. The trade which netted Phoenix Okafor and a first round pick for Gortat was a really good one for a team looking to build for the future, which may be as near as next year. Okafor could miss the entire season due to injury and as this is a team almost certainly destined for the lottery in a loaded draft class getting Okafor back next season is actually better than having him in the line up this year.
When restarting a team bringing in a new coach is a popular way to go and bringing in Jeff Hornacek will be a great way to develop these young players. It will be really interesting to see how he will mesh having both Bledsoe and Dragic on the floor but with two such talented players and Bledsoe's freakish athletic ability there has to be a way for it to work out. Getting all of this young talent in line will be the main measure of how well the Suns preform this season. Winning many games, especially without Gortat, is not something which Phoenix wants. Fortunately for the Suns they have tons of draft picks built up and assuming they do good things with them Phoenix will find itself back in the hunt in relatively short order.
