F - Jordan Loveridge - Utah - Salary: $8,000
Considering the guys that are right above Loveridge are in much tougher road environments going against better teams I'll take the discount and the upside that Jordan brings to the table. Loveridge is third on the list in FPPG at the forward position and he will get a boost today with the home crowd and he has a favorable matchup going against USC. The Trojans like to get a lot of possessions and the good news is they don't hit a high percentage of their shots. This gives Loveridge the opportunity to grab a ton of rebounds and maybe even pick up a couple blocked shots. The increased number of possessions also will allow him to go over his normal scoring average.
G - Russ Smith - Louisville - Salary: $8,700
Smith ranks as the 5th highest salary on the board, but this is a game where he has the potential to be the top point earner of the day. Louisville is huge favorites at home against Houston today and for good reason. The Cardinals are going against a Houston team who is without their second best player and Danuel House, and without House in the paint it will open up things for Smith in the driving lanes. Also Louisville is without Chris Jones and that puts more responsibility on Smith's shoulders. Expect Russ to get an increase in his minutes and that should translate into higher than average steals, assists, and points against a weaker opponent. Louisville could put up 80-90 points today and that leaves a lot of FP to be had.
Others to consider: Kyle Fuller, Kaleb Tarczewski, Jonathan Gilling, Aaron Gordon, Luke Hancock, Lenzelle Smith Jr., Aaron Brown
F - Kyle Anderson - UCLA - Salary: $10,300
The highest paid player on the board today seems to asking for too high a price. UCLA goes on the road to Colorado today to play in a very difficult environment and given the Bruins depth it is far from a lock that Anderson will continue to be a stat stuffer. Colorado will look to slow the pace of the game today on their home court without start guard Spencer Dinwiddie in the backcourt and I look for the Buffaloes to milk the clock every opportunity they get. This should limit possession and make it tough for Anderson to live up to this lofty bill.
F - Jordan Bachynski - Arizona State - Salary: $8,700
The second highest asking price for a forward and another guy that has to go on the road to try and fill up his stat sheet in a tough environment against a high caliber opponent. Arizona State is going into the McKale Center to go against a stifling Arizona defense and points will come at a premium in the paint today for the Sun Devils. Also I expect Arizona to hit on a large percentage of their shots making it tough for Bachynski to get his rebound quota. Add that to the fact that it will also be tough for Bacjynski to get blocks against a tall Arizona front line without getting into foul trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if Bachynski gets into foul trouble today considering the environment he is playing in and that could mean extended minutes on the bench.
