Nebraska has been a work in progress on the offensive side of the ball this season ranking 292nd in the nation in scoring average compared to 49th in total defense. The offensive issues for Nebraska have been amplified by the fact that Andrew White transferred to Syracuse this past offseason. The Huskers had a tough time finding consistent offense in their last outing as Nebraska went on to lose at home to in-state foe Creighton by a final of 62-77. Nebraska has been heading in the wrong direction losing 4 of their last 5 games, albeit against solid competition. The Huskers have been led by veteran guard Tai Webster who’s averaging 17.2 points per game.
The Kansas Jayhawks have opened the year 8-1 overall with their only loss coming in their opener against Indiana in extra time. Kansas has won 8 straight with some of their better wins coming against the likes of Duke, Siena, UAB, Georgia, and in their last outing the Jayhawks dominated UMKC picking up the win at home by a final of 105-62. Kansas has been putting up some big offensive numbers this season as the Jayhawks rank 13th in the nation in scoring average and 111th in total defense. The Jayhawks have a number of offensive threats and veteran guard Frank Mason has been leading the team averaging 20.8 points per game.
Nebraska will likely have a tough time keeping pace today on the road against one of the top all around teams in the nation. Kansas has been putting up some big offensive numbers this season and they’ll look to overwhelm this developing Nebraska squad. Take the Jayhawks to win big against the Huskers as they go on to win and cover the spread.
