The Alabama Crimson Tide have had the profile of their basketball program raised when they hired head coach Avery Johnson and head coach Johnson has been trying to get this program back on the right track over the past couple of seasons. Alabama has faced some tough test out of the gate standing 4-3 overall with their defeats coming against the likes of Dayton, Valpo, and on the road against Texas in their last outing by a final of 68-77. Alabama likes to lean on their defensive strengths as the offense can sometimes disappear. Alabama currently ranks 276th in the nation in scoring average compared to 33rd in total defense.
Oregon has been far from the top 5 ranking they received in the preseason as the Ducks have had a difficult time against tougher competition now standing 7-2 overall heading into this home game. Oregon has been inflating their stats a bit as of late coming off recent blowout wins against Western Oregon and Savannah State. Oregon’s best wins on the young season have come in competitive fashion against Tennessee, UConn, and Boise State. Oregon has been a work in progress with their offensive consistency and this unit has a lot of threat with 5 players averaging over 9 points per game. Tyler Dorsey has led the attack averaging 13.8 points per game.
Oregon hasn’t been nearly the same threat so far this season that they were showing throughout last year’s campaign, but now with Dillon Brooks back in the mix Oregon has the pieces to be a serious factor. Alabama brings in an elite level of play on the defensive end which could make this a more competitive contest than the odds makers are projecting. We like the Crimson Tide getting the generous amount of points as the best bet.
