Penn wasn’t able to keep pace in their last outing at home against George Mason as the Quakers went on to lose as favorites by a final of 60-79. With the defeat Penn falls to 3-5 overall on the year losing 4 of their last 5 games heading into this difficult matchup on the road against UCF. The Quakers have been a bit up and down on the offensive end over the past week and on the year this group currently ranks just 293rd in the nation in scoring average compared to 105th in total defense. Penn has been having a tough time finding consistent buckets and this unit has been led by AJ Bordeur who’s averaging 14.4 points per contest.
We really liked this UCF squad to overperform expectations coming into the year and this group has even surpassed our expectations standing 7-1 overall with their only defeat coming in a competitive result against Villanova. Unfortunately for UCF they will be without leading scorer and starting PG B.J. Taylor for the next few weeks because of injury, but at least the Knights are used to playing without Taylor who was down all last season with an injury. Looking on the bright side the Knights at least have AJ Davis back in the lineup and the forward took PG duties at times last season. UCF has been building off of their defensive success as this group ranks 2nd in the nation in points allowed.
Penn had a tough time finding buckets in their outing at home against George Mason the other day and now things get a whole lot tougher for the Quakers today on the road going against one of the best defensive teams in the nation. Even without their starting PG we like for UCF to outpace the Quakers at home as they go on to win and cover.
