The Murray State Racers have been streaky so far this season, relying a lot on the three point shot, as the Racers stand 5-5 overall coming into this tough test on the road against Ole Miss. Murray State had a very bad result in their last true road game losing to Evansville by a final of 46-78 in a game where the Racers couldn’t buy a basket. Murray State bounced back in their last outing at home against an easier foe beating lower division Bethel by a final of 103-65. Murray State has had a tough time going winless on the road so far this season with their offense lagging behind when they aren’t in the comfort of their home stadium.
The Ole Miss Rebels looked respectable in a losing effort in their last outing falling on the road to a strong Va Tech squad by a final of 75-80. Ole Miss has the pieces to be a mid-tier team in the SEC this season, with perhaps a trip to the NIT in the cards for this squad come March. Ole Miss has picked up some recent quality wins against teams like Montana, Memphis, and Saint Joe’s. The Rebels have favored pushing the pace of play this season ranking 43rd in the nation in scoring average compared to just 320th in total defense. Ole miss has 4 players averaging at least 12 points per game with Burnett leading the way averaging 20 points per game.
Ole Miss has shown to be a dangerous threat scoring the ball on their home court this year, but defense has been an issue for the Rebels. Murray State looked awful in their last outing on the road against an Evansville squad that isn’t as strong as Ole Miss. We like for the Rebels to pull away at home as they go on to win and cover.
