The Clemson Tigers have faced some more manageable foes as of late and this group now kicks things back up a notch as they head into this tough road challenge against the Tide. Clemson picked up another blowout win at home in their last outing getting past South Carolina State by a final of 93-65. The Tigers faced a much tougher slate back during the first few weeks of the nonconference and this group now stands 7-2 overall heading into the final stretch of the nonconference slate. Clemson has been padding their stats with some of their recent blowout wins now standing 67th in the nation in scoring average and 55th in total defense. Top returner Jaron Blossomgame has led the way averaging 18.6 points per game.
Alabama continues their rebuild under head coach Avery Johnson who’s really brought a lot of credibility back to the Alabama basketball program just by taking the coaching gig. In their last outing Alabama was able to come through at home against SC Upstate picking up the win by a final of 78-61 and this snapped a 2 game losing streak for Alabama who was coming off back to back competitive road losses against Texas and Oregon. Alabama has faced a challenging nonconference slate standing 5-4 overall leaning on their defense which ranks 33rd in the nation in points allowed. Alabama is clearly a work in progress on the offensive end with all of their players averaging less than 10 points per game.
The Clemson Tigers bring in the offensive edge, while Alabama has been better on the defensive end so far this season. Alabama should bring in a decent home court advantage here playing against a higher caliber opponent. Take the Crimson Tide and the points in a game that should be able to compete for the upset in.
