Georgia State has been able to pad their stats a bit this season in some of their easier matchups against lower division teams, but the Panthers have also picked up a couple of nice D1 wins on their way to standing 6-3 overall. In their last outing the Panthers outpaced Alabama A&M at home picking up the win by a final of 94-79. On the year Georgia State has shown they don’t mind getting up and down the court ranking 88th in the nation in scoring average and 134th in total defense. Georgia State is led by the talented Jeremy Hollowell who’s averaging 14.2 points per game.
Old Dominion has been downright dreadful on the offensive side of the ball this season, but there’s no denying the Monarchs bring one of the better defensive units in the nation to the table as ODU ranks 9th in the nation in total defense compared to 348th in scoring average. ODU almost required holding their opponent under 60 points to have a shot at the win. In their last outing the Monarchs came up just short yet again losing to VCU by a final of 64-67. On the year the Monarchs stand 5-4 overall with all of their contests coming in with very low numbers. Brandan Smith has led the team averaging 13 points per contest.
Georgia State has shown the ability to put up some solid offensive numbers this season, but they’ll get tested today going on the road to take on one of the best defenses in the nation. We’re not very high on this ODU squad given their immense offensive struggles and that should be a difference maker again today as Georgia State keeps things close enough to get the cover.
