The Samford Bulldogs have been working their way through a solid nonconference campaign standing 7-3 overall with true road wins already coming against teams like San Diego State, Saint Louis, and in their last outing against South Alabama by a final of 82-79. Samford has the pieces to be a mid tier team in the SoCon this season in what should be an up year for the conference as a whole. Samford has been testing themselves regularly on the road during the nonconference which should prep them well come conference action. Samford ranks 121st in the nation in scoring average with 4 players averaging in double figures scoring.
Florida State came into the year with high expectations and this FSU should is actually living up to their billing during the nonconference standing 11-1 overall with their one defeat coming against Temple. Florida State has picked up some nice resume building wins against teams like Winthrop, Illinois, Minnesota, and Florida. In their last outing the Seminoles got past Manhattan at home picking up the win by a final of 83-67. Florida State has shown the ability to put up some strong offensive numbers this season ranking 9th in the nation in scoring average. FSU has a lot of talent on their roster and returner Dwayne Bacon leads the scoring average 17.2 points per game.
The Samford Bulldogs have been consistently competitive against their road heavy slate so far this season and the Bulldogs get another tough challenge today. Florida State had a tough time completely putting away Manhattan in their last outing and Samford is arguably better than the Jaspers. We like Samford getting the points as a solid value bet in this matchup.
