The Troy Trojans haven’t been going against the toughest teams at home, but the Trojans have really gone against some more challenging foes on the road thus far in the nonconference. In their last outing Troy put together a tremendous showing on the road against USC, coming up just short in the end losing to the Trojans by a final of 77-82. Troy has shown they can be a bit streaky on the offensive side of the ball, but when this group is clicking they can be dangerous ranking 57th in the nation in scoring average compared to 137th in total defense. Troy brings a lot of guys to the court that can make buckets with Jordon Varnado leading the team averaging 15.8 points per game.
Wyoming might have been one of the more undervalued teams coming into the year from the MWC given the fact that they lost their leading scorer this past offseason. We liked the makeup of this group and favor the direction the program is how headed under their new head coach, even though Wyoming also had success under their prior regime. The Cowboys have opened the year 8-2 overall and in their last outing Wyoming impressed getting past Cornell at home by a final of 97-78. Wyoming is playing at a faster tempo and this balanced unit has been led by Justin James who’s averaging 15.4 points per game.
Wyoming is finally starting to get some respect from the odds makers and there’s no denying the Cowboys have been steady on their home court this season. Although we like Wyoming to come through straight up, this feels like too many points to give to an offense like Troy’s.
