Saint John’s hasn’t been having much success as a basketball program in recent years and it’s looking like this is going to be a lengthy rebuild for head coach Mulllin. The Red Storm have opened the year 2-5 overall riding a 5 game losing streak heading into this tricky matchup on the road against Tulane. Saint John’s has been having consistency issues on the offensive end as of late including their last outing where the Red Storm fell to Delaware State at home by a final of 72-79. Confidence is low with this team and it’ll be tough turning the tide on the road today. Saint John’s has been led by Marcus LoVett who’s been a bright spot averaging 18.9 points per game.
Tulane is another squad that hasn’t gotten off to the kind of start they were hoping for opening 1-6 overall albeit against some tougher competition. Tulane has been challenging themselves against a lot of bigger programs losing to the likes of North Carolina, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Missouri, and Georgia Tech. In their last outing the Green Wave fell on the road to New Orleans by a final of 59-74. Tulane is picked to finish near the bottom of the AAC this season with 3 starters coming back to a team that went 12-22 overall last year. The Green Wave have had issues on both sides of the ball and this group has been led by Cameron Reynolds who’s averaging 16.4 points per game.
If their loss against Delaware State wasn’t enough of a wakeup call for Red Storm then this group is doomed to finish in the bottom of the Big East this season. Tulane has consistently come up well short against their competition this season and they should get a test here from the Red Storm. We’ll side with Saint John’s to bounce back as they go on to win and cover the spread.
