UL Monroe has opened the year 4-6 overall with some less than ideal results coming against a very up and down slate. ULM has gone against some very manageable opponents while also testing themselves on the road against teams like Texas, Colorado, and Chattanooga. In their last outing ULM didn’t look great at home against Northwestern State losing by a final of 64-68. The Warhawks are likely to finish in the lower tier of the Sun Belt this season and this group is a work in progress on the offensive end ranking 258th in the nation in scoring average with Travis Munnings leading the team averaging 13.1 points per game.
Coppin State has been going against a brutally tough schedule thus far in the nonconference and the Eagles haven’t had much success standing 1-12 overall ranking 344th in the nation in scoring average and 341st in total defense. Copping State is coming off their first win of the year beating lower division foe Goldey-Beacom College by a final of 89-83. Coppin State is still in search of their first D1 win this season and they’ll get their chance in this home matchup. The Eagles haven’t shown to have many great offensive threats and Tre’ Thomas currently leads the way averaging 11.2 points per game.
This is one of the lesser exciting games of today’s action, but one of the few matchups we have to bet on during the afternoon. At the very least, Coppin State is battle tested and this is one of the few home games the Eagles have had thus far. We like the home team getting the points as the better value bet.
Coppin State +7.5 -110
