The Nevada Wolf Pack are one of the favorites to win the MWC this season and Nevada has gotten off to a nice start standing 9-2 overall coming into this matchup against another solid mid-major squad. Unfortunately for Nevada one of their top players Elijah Foster has been out, but this group has enough talent and depth to weather the storm for now. Nevada has won 4 straight including recent wins coming against Washington on the road and UC Irvine at home. Nevada has some solid offensive options with the team ranking 77th in the nation in scoring average and Missouri State transfer Marcus Marshall has led the attack averaging 20.1 points per game.
The Towson Tigers should compete in the upper tier of the CAA this season given the amount of veteran talent that returns to this roster. Towson has opened the year 7-4 overall leaning on their tough nosed defense as the Tigers rank 66th in the nation in points allowed compared to 167th in scoring average. Towson has been playing in some very competitive matchups throughout the nonconference including their last outing where the Tigers beat UMBC on the road by a final of 73-72. Towson has 4 players averaging in double figures with Mike Morsell leading the team averaging 17.6 points per game.
This should be a solid mid-major matchup on the neutral site in Las Vegas. Nevada doesn’t need to travel near as far with this Invite being held in their home state and that should aid the Wolf Pack’s chances. We like for Nevada to outpace the Tigers offensively as they go on to win and cover the spread.
