The Marshall Thundering Herd are a lot of fun to watch if you like fast paced action and this veteran group has put together some nice results this season standing 7-4 overall ranking 16th in the nation in scoring average compared to 339th in total defense. Marshall has really tested themselves during the nonconference and the Thundering Herd should be more than prepared for action come conference action in CUSA. Marshall will probably have a tougher time dictating their tempo today going against a more methodical Cincinnati squad and on the year the Thundering Herd have been led by Jon Elmore who’s averaging 21.1 points per game.
Cincinnati is very different in terms of their defensive ability compared to Marshall, but the Bearcats have actually put up some solid offensive numbers as well this year ranking 66th in the nation in scoring average and 16th in total defense. Cincinnati stands 9-2 overall with their only defeats on the year coming against Butler and Rhode Island. In their last couple of outings Cincinnati has completely demolished their competition getting past Texas Southern and Fairleigh Dickinson at home. Cincinnati is unselfish on the offensive side of the ball and this group has 3 players averaging in double figures with Jacob Evans leading the way averaging 15.1 points per game.
Marshall has the ability to keep things respectable in this one against Cincinnati, but it’s going to come down to how Cincinnati adapts to going against a fast paced opponent like the Thundering Herd. We like Cincinnati to get the win, but fell getting the Thundering Herd with this many points is the better value bet.
