We liked for this veteran UNC Greensboro squad to continue to build off of the momentum they showed down the stretch last year in conference play and that’s been the case thus far as the Spartans stand 9-3 overall with their only losses coming against some of their tougher competition like Virginia and Wake Forest. UNC Greensboro has been stout defensively this season raking 26th in the nation in points allowed compared to 152nd in scoring average. This is a very balanced and unselfish group with 4 players averaging in double figures scoring and Francis Alonso has led the attack averaging 12.6 points per contest. In their last outing UNCG fended off UNC Asheville on the road picking up the win by a final of 75-73.
Georgetown should be a threat near the middle of the highly competitive Big East this season and the Hoyas have been a bit hit or miss thus far in the nonconference standing 7-4 overall. In their last outing Georgetown picked up a great resume building win on the road getting past rival Syracuse by a final of 78-71. The Hoyas have gone on a run winning 5 straight coming into this tricky matchup against a solid mid-major foe. Georgetown has looked to speed up the pace of play this season ranking 72nd in the nation in scoring average and 169th in total defense. Rodney Pryor has been putting up some great offensive numbers averaging 20.5 points per game shooting well over 50% from three.
Georgetown has had to fend off a number of solid mid-major foes so far this season playing in some very competitive games that they were fairly significant favorites in. Both of these squads have been playing some quality ball and we think this has the ability to be another tough win for the Hoyas. Take the Spartans and the points as a quality value play.
