Navy has been picking up their play as of late getting past Bryant and Columbia in their last two outings, but the Midshipmen might be a bit rusty coming into this one playing in their first game in nearly two weeks. Navy stands 5-6 overall thus far in the nonconference showing competitive results in even their defeats against teams like Ohio State and Charleston. The Midshipmen like to play at a slower pace ranking 97th in the nation total defense compared to 318th in scoring average. Navy only has one double figure scorer with Shawn Anderson who’s averaging 12.9 points per game.
The Hartford Hawks haven’t gone against the toughest nonconference schedule by any means and this group has been largely competitive despite standing just 4-8 overall. Hartford is also building some momentum winning 3 of their last 4 games including a great win on the road against Boston College by a final of 65-63. In their last outing Hartford came through at home against Datrmouth winning by a final of 70-66, but the Hawks have also had over a week since their last outing. The Hawks bring a slightly higher offensive ceiling than the Midshipmen ranking 225th in the nation in scoring average, but also just 285th in scoring average. Jalen Ross has impressed so far this season for the Hawks averaging 21.3 points per game.
Hartford will get the home court advantage in this early afternoon game which should boost their chances at getting the upset. Hartford has been playing well as of late and their win on the road against Boston College stands out as a strong result for the Hawks. We like Hartford getting the points today at home as a solid value bet.
Hartford +2 -110
