The Friars lost their two best players to pro ball this past offseason, but the Friars have reloaded and looked great out of the gate standing 10-2 overall as we head closer to conference play. Providence has built themselves up on the defensive side of the ball ranking 10th in the nation in points allowed compared to 240th in scoring average. Providence handled their business the other day getting past Maine at home by a final of 79-59 and some of the Friars’ better wins this year have come against the likes of Vermont, Memphis, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Providence’s two defeats came in competitive contests against Ohio State and Virginia. The Friars have been led by Rodney Bullock who’s stepped up averaging 19.1 points per game.
Boston College will have a tough time finding a win again this year in the ACC and thus far through the nonconference the Eagles stand 6-6 overall. Boston College is coming off another home loss as the Eagles fell the other day to Fairfield by a final of 83-89. BC has shown to be very beatable at home losing to teams like Nicholls State and Harford as well. Boston College hasn’t found an identity and this group currently ranks around 200th in the nation in both scoring average and total defense. The offense leans a lot on Jerome Robinson who’s averaging 20.5 points per game.
Providence has looked a lot better than we were expecting out of the gate and the loss of Dunn and Bentil hasn’t slowed this group up all that much. Boston College continues to be a work in progress and there are some painful months ahead for this group in the ACC. We like for Providence to come through this afternoon as they go on to win and cover the spread.
