The Auburn Tigers picked up a nice resume boosting win the other day getting past Oklahoma by a final of 74-70. Auburn has quietly been putting up some respectable results thus far in the nonconference standing 9-2 overall with their only bad result coming in their 1 point loss against Boston College. Auburn has been taking advantage of a home and neutral site heavy schedule so far this season in the nonconference, but things will be tough for the Tigers in this one going into just their second true road game of the year. Auburn has been showing improvements on both sides of the ball this season as this group ranks 50th in the nation in scoring average and 198th in total defense. Mustapha Heron leads the way averaging 16 points per game.
UConn appears to have been one of the more overrated teams coming into the year quickly falling out of the top 25 to now stand just 5-5 overall. UConn has generally played to the level of their competition this year which has allowed them to beat a team like Syracuse, while also losing to the likes of Wagner and Northeastern. UConn was finally able to securely get past an opponent in their last outing as the Huskies beat back North Florida by a final of 80-59. The Huskies have been a major work in progress on the offensive end ranking 293rd in the nation in scoring average compared to 94th in total defense. UConn has been led by Jalen Adams who’s averaging 17.4 points per game.
UConn typically has a pretty good home court advantage, but the Huskies are just 2-2 at home so far this season. Auburn picked up a nice true road win against UAB earlier in the nonconference and the Tigers are building momentum coming off their upset win against Oklahoma. We like the Tigers to make things interesting this afternoon as they go on to cover this spread.
