The Idaho State Bengals have gotten off to a rocky start this season standing just 3-10 overall ranking 302nd in the nation in scoring average and 275th in total defense. The saving grace for this Idaho State group was suppose to come on the offensive end with their strong guard play, but the offense has had even more issues than defense so far this season. Idaho State was throttled again in their last outing as the Bengals fell to BYU on the road by a final of 58-84. The Bengals have fallen in their fair share of blowout this season and Ethan Telfair has led the offensive attack averaging 16.4 points.
Montana is better than their 5-8 overall record might suggest and the Grizzlies should be a factor right near the top of the Big Sky this season. Montana ran through the gauntlet during their nonconference slate and that should have readied this group for action in conference. Montana went against a road heavy schedule during the nonconference and this group should be happy to get back home and play behind their nice home court advantage. Montana ranks around 220th in the nation in both scoring average and total defense, but we expect these numbers to improve for this group in the Big Sky. Montana has been led by Oregon transfer Ahmaad Rorie who’s averaging 15.5 points.
Idaho State has been blown out on the regular season far this season and it’ll be interesting to see if the Bengals are able to start turning thing around as they head into conference action. We like Montana to finish near the top of the league standings and we like the Grizzlies to come through today against the Bengals as they go on to win and cover the spread.
