The Stanford Cardinal have been having a tough time on the offensive side of the ball so far this season early on as the Cardinal have leaned on their defense and slowing the pace of play ranking 312th in the nation in scoring average and 23rd in total defense. Stanford brings in a new coaching staff this season after letting head coach Dawkins go. The cupboard isn’t bare for the Cardinal and this group has the pieces to compete in the mid to upper tier range of the Pac 12. In their last outing Stanford came up short at home against Saint Mary’s losing by a final of 51-66.
Kansas has gotten off to a nice start this season standing 6-1 overall with their only defeat coming in extra time against a strong Indiana squad. Kansas picked up an elite resume win on a neutral site against Duke a couple weeks back and in their last outing the Jayhawks ran past LBSU beating the 49ers by a final of 91-61. The Jayhawks have been putting up strong offensive numbers ranking 27th in the nation in scoring as well as 119th in total defense. Kansas has been dominating the weaker foes they’ve faced so far this season and veteran Frank Mason has led the offense averaging 19.6 points per game.
Stanford will try to make this a slower paced game to keep things competitive with the Jayhawks, but that’ll be easier said than done. We don’t like what we’ve been seeing from this Stanford offense and Kansas should be able to outpace the Cardinal as they go on to win and cover.
