Weber State is one of the favorites to win the Big Sky this season, but the Wildcats weren’t overly impressive during the nonconference now standing 6-6 overall. Weber State opened conference play with a nice 87-75 win on the road against Montana State and the Wildcats have been building some momentum winning 4 straight coming into this tough matchup on the road against Montana. Weber State rather consistently came up short in their more difficult nonconference matchups and this group has leaned a lot of veteran guard Jeremy Senglin who’s leading the team averaging 19.7 points per game.
The Montana Grizzlies went against a brutally tough nonconference schedule for a Big Sky squad, but this group is now battled tested standing 6-8 overall coming into conference play where the Grizzlies figure to have a lot of success this season. Montana also came through in their conference opener getting past Idaho State by a final of 74-62. The Grizzlies have been building some momentum of their own against a more manageable slate as of late winning 3 straight. Montana has a solid home court advantage and the Grizzlies have been led this year by Oregon transfer Ahmaad Rorie who’s averaging 16.1 points per game.
It’s always fun seeing these consistently top teams from the Big Sky going head to head in league play. Montana should get a boost from their home crowd who should come out to support their team against what has been their biggest opposition in the conference in recent years. Take the Grizzlies to come through has they go on to cover the spread.
