This Florida State squad has the kind of talent to compete in the upper tier of the ACC this season and this is a great chance for the Seminoles to prove themselves going on the road to take on one of the conference’s finest. Florida State has lived up to their preseason expectations and them some standing 13-1 overall picking up a win in their ACC opener against Wake Forest by a final of 88-72. This will be the first true road game of the year for Florida State and it’ll be interesting to see how this group responds in a very tough setting. The Seminoles rank 12th in the nation in scoring average with Dwayne Bacon leading the way averaging 17.4 points per game.
We love the makeup of this unselfish Virginia squad, but when a team focuses this much on the defensive side of the ball and it can be tricky to cover a spread of this magnitude when the final score is in the 50-60s range. Virginia has been all about their defense this season ranking 1st in the nation in points allowed giving up an unbelievable 47.7 points per game. On the other side of the ball the Cavaliers rank 277th in scoring average. Virginia stands 11-1 overall and in their conference opener the Cavaliers looked strong taking down Louisville on the road by a final of 61-53. Virginia spreads the ball around with 9 players averaging between 5-10 points per game.
This is a great chance for Florida State to prove themselves as a serious contender in the ACC, but that’ll be easier said than done going against the best defensive team in the nation in a tough road environment. Virginia has been solid all year up to this point, but we like the value taking Florida State getting the generous amount of points.
