The Clemson Tigers pieced together a nice nonconference standing 10-2 overall with their only defeats coming against Xavier and Oklahoma back in mid November. Clemson has picked up some decent resume building wins against teams like Georgia, Davidson, Nebraska, Alabama, UNCW, and South Carolina. In their last outing Clemson took down a strong veteran UNCW squad at home by a final of 87-73. The Tigers have shown strengths on both sides of the ball, but this is a defensive oriented group as Clemson ranks 37th in the nation in points allowed. On the offensive end the Tigers are led by veteran Jaron Blossomgame who’s averaging 17.6 points per game.
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons don’t have any poor defeats to speak of so far this season as Wake Forest stands 9-4 overall with their losses coming against Villanova, Northwestern, Xavier, and Florida State with all of these losses coming away from home. Wake Forest is in need of some RPI boosting wins and they’ll get their chance today on their home court. Wake Forest completely dominated action in their last outing at home as the Demon Deacons blitzed past LSU by a final of 110-76. The Deacons like to push the pace of play as this squad ranks 39th in the nation in scoring average and John Collins has led the way averaging 16.1 points per game.
This game means a little more for Wake Forest as the Demon Deacons fell in their conference opener on the road against Florida State and Wake Forest gets a great chance to boost their RPI this afternoon on their home court. Wake Forest has been playing well at home this season and we like for that to continue today as the Demon Deacons go on to cover this spread.
