The Elon Phoenix have gotten off to a strong start to the season, especially on the offensive side of the ball as Elon is averaging 86 points per game which ranks 19th in the nation. Elon has been solid against adequate competition standing 6-1 overall with their only loss coming against Charlotte. Since their loss against the 49ers Elon has strung together 5 straight wins building momentum coming into this challenging matchup on the road. Elon stands 2-0 in true road games this season with wins coming at South Florida and Northern Illinois. In their last outing the Phoenix were able to claw out a win against FIU picking up the victory by a final of 84-81. Elon brings a well balanced attack on the offensive end with 8 guys averaging at least 6 points per game.
The Georgetown Hoyas were hoping to get back on track as a program this season, but it hasn’t been a great start for this group standing 4-4 overall heading into a tricky matchup against a hot offensive team. Georgetown has had their issues in some of their toughest matchups losing against Maryland, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma State. The Hoyas have also fallen on their home court twice this season including a bad defeat coming against Arkansas State. In their last outing the Hoyas were finally able to put everything together as Georgetown went on to beat Coppin State by a final of 96-44. The Hyas are led by Rodney Prior who’s been a bright spot averaging 20.5 points per game.
Georgetown has been very inconsistent early on this season and they haven’t been all that impressive on their home court in some of their defeats. Elon has been playing well and building a lot of confidence and momentum coming into this one. We like the Phoenix and the points in what could be a more competitive game than the Hoyas are looking for.
