The Marquette Golden Eagles got off to a hot start this season, followed by some reality check defeats coming against Michigan and Pitt. Since then Marquette has picked up 3 straight wins against more manageable competition heading into this road test. Marquette might not be the most imposing group, but this squad can be lethal on the offensive end and this team currently ranks 17th in the nation averaging 86.7 points per game. In their last outing Marquette ran past Western Carolina picking up the win by a final of 90-44. The Golden Eagles have a lot of veteran talent and this group has been led by JaJaun Johnson who’s averaging 14.3 points per game.
The Georgia Bulldogs are hoping to build up a nonconference resume strong enough for at-large consideration and this group gets a great chance here to bolster their RPI if they’re able to grab the win. The Bulldogs have opened the season 5-2 overall with their losses coming in their tougher matchups against Clemson and Kansas. In their last outing Georgia didn’t look overly impressive getting past Morehouse by a final of 86-72. There’s no denying this Georgia squad has some very high skill players and this group has been led by Yante Maten who’s averaging 20.4 points per game.
Marquette will try to get the Bulldogs out and running in what they’ll try to make a higher scoring game. Georgia has been a bit inconsistent on the offensive end this season ranking just 227th in the nation in scoring average. We like the advantages Marquette brings on the offensive end which should be a difference maker here as the Golden Eagles go on to cover the spread.
