CS Northridge has been challenging themselves in the nonconference standing 3-5 overall with their best wins coming against Northern Illinois and in their last outing against Idaho State by a final of 79-75. The Matadors have had some issues in their tougher matchups losing convincingly against teams like UCLA, Stanford, Texas A&M, New Mexico, and Portland. The Matadors have fancied pushing the pace of play standing 55th in the nation in scoring average compared to a miserable 349th in total defense giving up over 90 points per contest.
Saint John’s hasn’t gotten off to the start they were hoping for this season, but the Red Storm have at least shown some dominance in their easier matchups this season. The Red Storm stand 3-5 overall and Saint John’s looked great in their last outing beating Tulane on the road by a final of 95-75. The Red Storm won’t have a lot of success in the Big East, but this group has shown the ability to handle their business against more manageable competition. Saint John’s has put up some decent offensive numbers this season ranking 116th in the nation in scoring average with Marcu LoVett leading the team averaging 18.8 points per game.
Both of these squads come into this matchup with the same overall record, but Saint John’s resume looks slightly better at this point showing their ability to win by a large margin against easier foes. CSUN will get tested here on the road and behind their home crowd advantage we like for the Red Storm to build a lead on their way to covering this spread.
