The UConn Huskies got off to a very shaky start this season standing 3-4 overall with consistent defeats coming against a all kinds of competition. In their last outing the Huskies put together another poor performance on the offensive side of the ball on their way to beat Boston University by a final of 51-49. The Huskies have been one of the more disappointing teams in the nation opening the year as a top 25 squad only to lose out of the gate against Wagner and Northeastern at home. Offense has been a cause for concern for UConn as this group ranks just 272nd in the nation in scoring average. The Huskies have leaned on Jalen Adams who’s averaging 18 points per game.
The Syracuse Orange haven’t been all that impressive either at times this season, but the Orange are in a better spot standing 5-2 overall with defeats coming against quality opposition in South Carolina and Wisconsin. The Orange have been able to lean on their strong defense as this group ranks 19th in the nation in points allowed as well as 131st in scoring average. In their last outing Syracuse had a tough time against North Florida picking up the win by a final of 77-71. The orange have been led by transfer Andrew White who’s averaging 17 points per game.
We’re not overly confident in either of these squads, but the Orange have looked better out of the gate, especially on the defensive side of the ball. UConn will likely have trouble putting up consistent baskets in this one and that should be the difference maker as the Orange go on to win and cover the spread.
