The Xavier Musketeers fell for the first time this season in their last outing losing to the emerging Baylor Bears by a final of 61-76. This was a very poor result for the Musketeers who now stand 7-1 overall coming into this challenge on the road against Colorado. Xavier has been a bit up and down so far this season with their best wins coming against Clemson and Northern Iowa twice. The Musketeers have leaned more on their defense this season standing 68th in the nation in total defense and 127th in scoring average. Xavier has a lot of returning talent from last year’s tournament team and the Musketeers have been led by Trevon Bluiett who’s averaging 18.4 points per game.
The Colorado Buffaloes would love to add a resume win to their nonconference results here and they’ll get a great opportunity to do just that on their home court behind their strong home court advantage. Colorado has opened the season 6-2 overall with their defeats coming against Notre Dame and rival Colorado State. In their last outing Colorado played well on the road getting past Portland by a final of 76-63. Colorado has put up similar numbers to Xavier ranking 58th in the nation in scoring average and 144th in scoring average. The Buffaloes have 4 players averaging in double figures with Xavier Johnson leading the way averaging 14.4 points per game.
Colorado has a strong home court advantage that should be a difference maker for the Buffaloes as they try to get past a strong Xavier squad. The Musketeers are coming off a poor result on the road and it’ll be interesting to see how Xavier bounces back. Side with Colorado to come through as they go on to cover this spread.
Colorado +1 -102
