The Davidson Wildcats fell apart in the second half of their last outing on the road losing to Charleston by a final of 61-76. This was a surprising collapse for Davidson who brought a 9 point lead into the second half, before getting completely outplayed in the final 20 minutes. It’ll be interesting to see how the Wildcats bounce back today going against one of the best teams in the nation in a tough atmosphere. Davidson’s offense hasn’t been nearly as productive this season as this squad has slowed things down ranking 173rd in the nation in scoring as well as 100th in total defense. Veteran guard Jack Gibbs leads the team averaging 23.3 points per game.
North Carolina has gotten off to a strong 8-1 start this season, but to pick up their 9th win the Tar Heels will have to do it without starting guard Joel Berry. UNC picked up a dominating win in their last outing getting past Radford by a final of 95-50. This was a strong result for the Tar Heels who were coming off their first defeat of the season losing on the road against Indiana. UNC has dominated their competition at home this season doing a great job of utilizing their home court advantage. UNC has shown strength on both ends ranking 7th in the nation in scoring average and 60th in total defense. UNC can really spread the ball around with 4 players averaging over 13 points per game.
Davidson looked awful down the stretch of their last outing on the road against Charleston and things only get tougher for the Wildcats today. North Carolina has been consistently dominant at home all season long and we expect this trend to continue today as the Tar Heels go on to win and cover the spread.
