The Duke Blue Devils have been a bit less consistent than we’d like to see out of a top tier team thus far in ACC play, but part of this could be due to Coach K being out for the time being. In their last outing Duke had a fight on their hands at home, before getting past Boston College by a final of 93-82. In their last outing on the road Duke came up well short at Virginia Tech losing to the Hokies by a final of 75-89. Duke has been largely dominant this season standing 14-2 overall and ranking 18th in the nation in scoring average and 34th in total defense. Veteran Luke Kennard has stepped up to lead the Blue Devils this season averaging 20.3 points per game.
Florida State has the talent to compete with anyone in the country and the Seminoles have been living up to their goals thus far standing 15-1 overall and 3-0 in the ACC. Florida State has been building off of their offense as the Seminoles stand 14th in the nation in scoring average and 108th in total defense. Florida State has been building up their confidence coming off great recent wins against Virginia on the road and then against Virginia Tech at home the other day by a final of 93-78. Florida State has a decent home court advantage and the Seminoles have been led by Dwayne Bacon who’s averaging 18.1 points per game.
Florida State played well against a solid Virginia Tech squad the other day in a winning effort and that’s the same Va Tech squad that beat Duke by double digits to open ACC play. Duke isn’t quite the same threat without Coach K leading the squad, but the Blue Devils should still bring a lot of effort to this high caliber matchup. We like the home team to come through as they go on to cover the spread.
