Monmouth hasn’t been quite as consistent as we were expecting them to be coming into the year, but there’s no denying this is still the most dangerous team in the MAAC when the Hawks are playing up to their ceiling. Monmouth has stumbled a bit in league play, but this group still stands atop the league sitting 13-5 overall and 5-2 in conference. Monmouth ranks 2nd in the conference in scoring average as well as a respectable 4th in total defense. In their last outing Monmouth came through on the road beating Niagara by a final of 90-83. The Hawks have been led by veteran guard Justin Robinson who’s averaging 17.4 points per game.
Canisius is looking like one of the main threats in the MAAC standing 12-6 overall and 5-2 in league play. This group loves to play fast ranking 40th in the nation in scoring average compared to 320th in total defense. This has the ingredients to be a very high scoring game between the two top ranked offensive teams in the MAAC. In their last outing Canisius impressed at home getting past Marist by a final of 91-58. Canisius has been red hot winning 8 of their last 9 and this group has put together some really strong results as of late. The Golden Griffins are led by Robertson and Crumpton who’re averaging 18 and 17.2 points per game respectively.
This should be a fun game to watch if you like offense with both of these squads averaging over 80 points per game. Canisius has looked tremendous over their past week and the Golden Griffins bring a lot of momentum into this important matchup. We like the Golden Griffins to keep things rolling as they go on to cover the spread against the Hawks.
