It hasn’t been the kind of year that San Diego State was expecting to have as this talented group sits 10-7 overall and just 2-3 in conference. SDSU remains a defensive team, but even their defense has take a step back this season as the Aztecs rank 21st in the nation in points allowed and 251st in scoring average. San Diego State have been looking better as of late coming off back to back double digit wins at home against San Jose State and Utah State, and the Aztecs have been starting to climb back up the conference standings as a result. This group has been led by Jeremy Hemsley who’s averaging 16.1 points per game.
UNLV hasn’t shown much in the way of strengths on either side of the ball this season standing 228th in the nation in scoring average and 244th in total defense. The Rebels have been a bit up and down with their results, but UNLV has gone against a fairly taxing conference slate up to this point standing 9-9 overall and 2-3 in the Mountain West. In their last outing UNLV picked up a nice win on the road against New Mexico to snap a two game losing streak where the Rebels were coming off back to back blowout losses against Utah State and Boise State. The Rebels have been led by Jalen Poyser who’s averaging 13.3 points per game.
UNLV has been up and down throughout conference play and this will be another tough test for the Rebels who’ve shown they’re beatable on their home court this season. San Diego State is starting to gain some momentum and confidence and we like that to carry over on the road today as the Aztecs go on to win and cover this spread.
