The Siena Saints have been going on a bit of a run as of late winning 4 straight to improve to 8-11 overall and 5-3 in the MAAC. The Saints were looking like one of the more disappointing teams in the MAAC through the first half of the regular season, but Siena has been reviving themselves a bit over the past couple of weeks. The question remains whether the Saint can continue to play like this for an extended period or if it’s just a flash in the pan. Siena still ranks over 200th in the nation in both scoring average and total defense, and on the offensive side of the ball this squad has a strong 5 players averaging in double figures scoring.
We’ve been impressed with what we’ve seen out of Saint Peter’s as of late as the Peacocks have won 3 straight to improve to 9-8 overall and 5-2 in conference. Saint Peter’s is far and away the best defensive squad in this offensive heavy conference as the Peacocks rank 28th in the nation in points allowed compared to 329th in scoring average. Saint Peter’s has been showing better on the offensive end as of late and the Peacocks are coming off an impressive road trip that saw Saint Peter’s win back to back against Rider and Fairfield. In their last outing Saint Peter’s looked tremendous getting past Fairfield by a final of 69-55.
Saint Peter’s elite defensive effort can be a major difference maker in a conference that tends to be more focused on strong offensive attacks. The Peacocks are a dark horse to get the auto-bid from this league and we like for the Peacocks to keep things rolling today as they go on to win and cover the spread.
