Troy wasn’t able to come through in their last outing at home losing to Texas State by 4 points, but this is a Trojans’ group that’s been consistently undervalued by Vegas over the past month plus and it’s shown mainly in their competitive matchups on the road. Troy has been one of the more dangerous offensive teams in the Sun Belt this season ranking 2nd in the conference in scoring putting up 80.7 points per game on average. In their last road contest Troy came through for us upsetting Georgia State by a final of 80-77 and the Trojans followed that result with a dominating 22 point win over Texas Arlington who’s one of the top teams in the Sun Belt.
Arkansas State had some of the best nonconference results of any team in the Sun Belt, but that hasn’t been carrying over into league play for the Red Wolves who now standing 12-6 overall and 3-2 in conference. After losing back to back on the road against Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State, the Red Wolves bounced back in their last outing getting past Arkansas Little Rock on the road by a final of 77-72. Arkansas State has been very hit or miss on the offensive side of the ball thus far in conference and on the year the Red Wolves have leaned more on their defense which ranks 2nd overall in the Sun Belt.
This has the makings to be a very competitive matchup given how impressive Troy has been on the road over the past month of action, even in their losing efforts. Troy has the edge on the offensive side of the ball and we like for the Trojans to keep things close in this one as they go on to cover this moderate spread.
