Iowa State has been very competitive thus far in Big 12 play standing 11-6 overall and 3-3 in conference and even in their losses the Cyclones have been solid, like in their loss at Baylor by just 2 points or their 4 point loss against Kansas in their last outing. Iowa State also has a true road win in the Big 12 with their 10 point win at Oklahoma State. The Cyclones have shown they can get the job done both at home and on the road in this highly competitive contest and Iowa State brings effort on both ends ranking 39th in the nation in scoring and 74th in total defense. Veteran guard Monte Morris is the catalyst and he’s leading the squad averaging 15.9 points per game.
It’s been a very disappointing season for the Oklahoma Sooners, but everyone knew this group was going to take a step back in the Big 12 given the veteran talent this group lost during the offseason. Oklahoma is actually coming off one of the more shocking wins in college basketball this week as the Sooners went on the road against West Virginia and beat the Mountaineers by a final of 89-87. Oklahoma has picked up their play as of late winning 2 straight to stand 8-9 overall and 2-4 in the Big 12. Veteran guard Jordan Woodard has been the spark to get the Sooners back on track as he’s leading the way coming off back to back 20+ point game performances.
There arguably hasn’t been a team playing better ball in the Big 12 over the past week than Oklahoma and with a healthy Woodard the Sooners are actually looking like a respectable team in the conference. Iowa State has been pretty good on the road in conference, but we like Oklahoma to keep things going as they go on to cover this spread.
