Boise State has stumbled a bit as of late coming off back to back defeats against Fresno State and New Mexico, but the Broncos are still one of the better overall teams in the MWC standing 11-6 overall and 4-2 in conference. Boise State has shown fairly well on the road so far this season and the Broncos have won recently in conference on the road against teams like Utah State and UNLV. The Broncos tend to build off of their defensive effort, but their defense has failed them in their last two outings. The Broncos still rank 2nd in the conference in total defense giving up 68.4 points per game on average. Chandler Hutchison has stepped up to lead this group averaging 17.8 points per game.
San Jose State has been a bit hit or miss thus far in conference play, but the Spartans are still one of the weaker all around teams in the MWC standing 9-8 overall and 2-4 in conference. San Jose State hasn’t shown much in the way of strengths in this league ranking 7th in the conference in both total defense and scoring average. The Spartans came up well short in their last outing at home losing to Wyoming by a final of 70—80 in a game that was never really close. SJSU has been led by Brandon Clarke who’s averaging 17.6 points per game.
San Jose State was unable to get the job done the other day at home and things don’t get any easier for the Spartans in this matchup. Boise State has slipped up a bit as of late, but that’s just some more fuel for the Broncos to refocus their efforts as they try and get back on track today. We like Boise State, who’s shown well on the road this season, to come through today as they go on to cover the spread.
