Coastal Carolina has been hit or miss thus far in conference play getting blown out on the road against teams like UT Arlington and Georgia State, while also picking up some nice wins at home against the likes of Arkansas State and Arkansas Little Rock. Coastal Carolina sits in the upper half of the Sun Belt standing 9-10 overall and 4-2 in league play, but this group has looked shaky at times on the road. Coastal Carolina will be heading into their second leg of a back to back on the road with their first stop coming in a less than ideal 56-76 loss against Georgia State. Coastal Carolina hasn’t been dominant on either side of the ball ranking around 210th in the nation in both scoring and total defense.
Georgia Southern looks like the team to beat in the Sun Belt right now getting the job done both at home and on the road thus far in conference standing 13-6 overall and 6-0 in league play. All of Georgia Southern’s wins thus far in conference have been in competitive matchups and for the Eagles to take the next step in their progression they need to do a better job of putting their opposition away. The Eagles have been one of the top performing offensive teams in the Sun Belt ranking 54th in the nation in scoring average compared to 199th in total defense. In their last outing Georgia Southern was able to get past App State at home picking up the win by a final of 92-88
Coastal Carolina has been susceptible to getting blown out on the road thus far in conference play and in their last outing Coastal was run off the court by Georgia State. Going into their second leg of a road back to back could also play a factor for Coastal Carolina today. Even though Georgia Southern hasn’t been able to win by large sums, we do feel the Eagles have things lining up for them today as they should go on to win and cover the spread.
