Kansas has been riding an 18 game winning streak which is in jeopardy of ending today as the Jayhawks go on the road to face a very tough West Virginia squad in a challenging environment. Kansas hasn’t really been beating teams in Big 12 play in convincing fashion, but the important stat for the Jayhawks is they stand 7-0 in conference thus far. In their last outing Kansas had a tough time completely pulling away from Texas as the Jayhawks went on to pick up the win by a final of 79-67. Kansas has actually faced a more manageable conference slate up to this point and things start to really get tough for the Jayhawks over the coming month.
West Virginia competed hard in their last outing on the road against Kansas State, but the Mountaineers came up just short losing to the Wildcats by a final of 75-79. West Virginia has gone on a little bit of a skid as of late, but this is still one of the major teams to be feared in the Big 12 come tournament time. West Virginia has shown a very high ceiling this season with wins coming against teams like Virginia on the road and their 21 point win at home against Baylor. West Virginia has a great home court advantage that they’ve been utilizing well this season as the Mountaineers bring effort on both ends ranking 6th in the nation in scoring and 37th in total defense.
Kansas has faced about as manageable a slate in the Big 12 as any team could face 7 games in, but things really ramp up now with upcoming tests against West Virginia and Baylor. West Virginia has a tremendous home court advantage and we like for the Mountaineers to come into today’s game with a lot of energy and enthusiasm as they go on to cover the spread.
