Green Bay was able to right the ship in their last outing at home getting past Cleveland State by a final of 83-73 to improve to 12-8 overall and 6-2 in conference. Green Bay has been putting together a respectable showing thus far in conference sitting 2nd in the league one place behind Valparaiso. Green Bay got off to a hot start in the Horizon before snapping out of their two game losing streak in their last outing. The Phoenix have been more of an up-tempo group, especially in conference play ranking 54th in the nation in scoring average and 275th in total defense. This offense has shown a lot of different threats with 6 players averaging between 9-14 points per game.
Oakland is another squad that got off to a solid start in the Horizon, but the Golden Grizzlies have taken a big step back as of late losing 3 of their last 4 games to stand 15-6 overall and 5-3 in conference. Oakland has an impressive amount of talent given their influx of transfers, but this group hasn’t been able to find consistent buckets on the offensive end over the past couple of weeks. Oakland has been one of the more balanced teams in the Horizon overall ranking 80th in the nation in scoring average as well as 115th in total defense. Guard Martez Walker’s numbers have been fading, but he still leads this group averaging 16.9 points per game.
What’s been surprising about Oakland’s recent struggles is they’ve even been falling at home losing their last two home games against Cleveland State and Detroit who’re two of the weaker squads in the conference. Green Bay has shown they can get the job done on the road in conference play and we like the Phoenix to stay competitive in this one as they go on to cover the spread.
