This is one of the more intriguing matchups tonight as two of the top teams in the underrated A-10 go head to head for a chance to gain another resume building win. Dayton has been picking up their play as of late winning three straight to improve to 15-4 overall and 6-1 in conference. In their last outing Dayton came through at home against Saint Louis leaning on their defense to get the win by a final of 67-46. The Flyers have been one of the more consistent performers in the A-10 this season also showing they can come through on the road standing 3-1 in true road games this thus far. Dayton plays off of their strong defense as this group ranks 26th in the nation in points allowed.
VCU was able to snap out of their two game losing streak in impressive fashion the other day, taking down LaSalle at home by a final of 90-52. VCU was coming off less than ideal defeats on the road against Davidson and Fordham and now the Rams are in need of some more resume building wins standing 15-5 overall and 5-2 in conference. VCU is another A-10 squad that brings tremendous effort on the defensive end ranking 44th in the nation in points allowed as well as 136th in scoring average. VCU has been pretty steady on their home court, but this is certainly one of the tougher home matchups the Rams have had this year. Veteran guard JeQuan Lewis has led the attack averaging 14.9 points per game.
This has competitive matchup written all over it as two of the top teams in the conference go at it. Dayton is filled with veteran players who should be able to handle the ruckus road crowd. In a contest that will likely go back and forth we’ll side with the Flyers and the points as the better bet.
Dayton +4 -110
