Loyola Chicago has put up some nice results this season standing 15-7 overall and 5-4 in the MVC in what is a tight packing in the conference between the 4-5 and 5-4 standing. Loyola Chicago has gone just 1-4 on the road in their last 5 true road games and the Ramblers figure to face another tough test today, even though Indiana State hasn’t been performing to their expectations thus far in league play. In their last outing the Ramblers utilized their home court advantage to get past Bradley by a final of 70-50 and in their last outing on the road Loyola Chicago fell to Northern Iowa by a final of 69-72. Veteran guard Milton Doyle leads the Ramblers averaging 15.7 points per game.
Indiana State put together some very strong results back during the nonconference, even picking up a win against Butler at home, but the Sycamores have been a major disappointment thus far in MVC play now standing 7-14 overall and 1-8 in conference. Indiana State at least has the potential to make a run down the stretch and in the MVC tournament, but that has to start with picking up some more wins during the regular season. Indiana State is better than their record might suggest and the Sycamores came up just short in their last outing on the road losing to a strong Illinois State squad by a final of 66-71. Indiana State is led by another top MVC performer in guard Brenton Scott who’s averaging 17 points per game.
For Indiana State to start rallying in the MVC they’re going to need some more dominating performances out of Brenton Scott. Loyola Chicago has come up short consistently on the road over the past month of play and we like Indiana State to play off of their home crowd today as they go on to cover this spread.
