Central Michigan is one of the more exciting teams in college basketball to watch as the Chips have the leading scorer in the nation with Marcus Keene who’s averaging 29.8 points per game and CMU also ranks an impressive 5th in the nation in scoring average putting up 88.9 points game. Central Michigan has been building some momentum picking up back to back wins at home against Miami Ohio and Bowling Green and the Chips now stand 13-7 overall and 3-4 in the MAC. Central Michigan has potential to be a dark horse in the MAC tournament and this group is always dangerous given their backcourt tandem which leads the nation in scoring.
Kent State was also able to break out of their slump recently picking up back to back wins against Toledo and Northern Illinois coming into today’s contest. Kent State had fallen in 4 straight including home games against Buffalo and Northern Illinois, but the Golden Flashes have righted the ship to improve to 11-9 overall and 3-4 in conference. Kent State is another one of the faster paced teams in the MAC ranking 64th in the nation in scoring and 167th in total defense. The Golden Flashes can be a bit streaky on the offensive end, but that’s also been the case with Central Michigan. Kent State is led by Jimmy Hall who’s averaging 78.6 points per game.
Central Michigan is always a threat given their high offensive ceiling and a lot of times with this CMU squad it just comes down to their decision making on the offensive end. Kent State has been playing better as of late and this figures to be another solid matchup today in the MAC. We’ll side with Central Michigan and the points as a solid value bet in what should be a competitive game.
