UCF has a knack for playing in close contests given the strengths of their defense and we expect this to be another competitive game for the Knights as they head back out on the road. UCF is coming off back to back close defeats against Memphis and SMU to fall back to 14-6 overall and 5-3 in the AAC, and making the NIT tournament is likely a very realistic goal for UCF at this point in the year, now coming off two tough defeats in a row. UCF has an elite defense as this group ranks 3rd in the nation in points allowed compared to 277th in scoring average, but part of that has to do with the pace at which the Knights play.
Tulsa had been stringing together some solid results prior to their last outing where the Golden Hurricane came up short losing on the road to ECU by a final of 66-69. Tulsa had been on a 4 game winning streak until their last defeat and on the year the Golden Hurricane now stand 11-8 overall and 5-2 in conference. Tulsa has been solid in defending their home court this season standing undefeated at home in AAC action with some of their better wins coming against UConn and Memphis. Tulsa is another squad that could make a play at the NIT this season and this group brings a balanced attack with 5 players averaging between 8-13 points per game.
UCF has to be down on themselves a bit coming off back to back close defeats against some of the other quality teams in the AAC and things don’t get any easier for the Knights today on the road. Tulsa has been strong at defending their home court in AAC action and we like for the home team to get the job done in this one as they go on to cover the spread.
