The Creighton Bluejays simply aren’t the same team without star point guard Maurice Watson Jr., but the Bluejays were able to get a bounce back win in their last outing at home taking down DePaul by a final of 83-66. Creighton was coming off back to back defeats against Marquette at home and Georgetown on the road, only putting up 51 in their 20 point road loss against the Hoyas. Creighton got off to a great start through the first half of the regular season, but the Bluejays have fallen back slightly as of late standing 19-3 overall and 6-3 in conference. Creighton’s offense hasn’t been as much of a threat without Watson, but this group is still led by Kansas State transfer Marcus Foster who’s averaging 18.2 points per game.
The Butler Bulldogs are knocking at the door atop the Big East standings as Butler is sitting 18-4 overall and 7-3 in conference. Butler has one of the best home court advantages in college basketball, but surprisingly the Bulldogs fell in their last outing at home falling to the emerging Georgetown Hoyas by a final of 81-85. Butler had been riding a 4 game winning streak, but this is a good chance for the Bulldogs to get back on track today against a shorthanded Creighton squad. Butler brings balance to the court ranking 99th in the nation in scoring and 62nd in total defense. Veteran forward Kelan Martin leads the offense averaging 16.6 points per game.
Creighton was able to come through at home against Butler a few weeks back, but that was with Watson on the court. Butler didn’t defend well in their last outing against Georgetown, but we like for the Bulldogs to right the ship today and come in refocused as they go on to win and cover this moderate spread.
