The UMass Minutemen have opened the year 10-4 overall and 0-1 in the A-10 with their conference opening defeat coming against Saint Bonaventure at home by a final of 77-89. UMass didn’t go against the toughest nonconference slate by any means and the Minutemen’s best wins on the year thus far have come against the likes of Temple and Harvard at home. UMass is 2-2 on the road with their last road outing coming in a nice 74-65 win against Georgia State. UMass hasn’t been pushing the pace all that much on offense ranking 176th in the nation in scoring average with Donte Clark leading the way averaging 15.6 points per game.
We like the development we’ve seen out of this George Mason squad so far this season and the Patriots are almost certainly going to finish higher in the A-10 than their preseason projection. George Mason stands 10-4 overall and they also fell in their conference opener, losing to a veteran VCU squad at home by a final of 64-73 in a game that was competitive down the stretch. The Patriots had their 9 game winning streak snapped, but a bounce back could be in the cards for this group today at home. The Patriots rank similarly to the Minutemen standing 153rd in the nation in scoring average and this group has been led by Marquise Moore who’s averaging 17.5 points per game.
George Mason appears to be heading in the right direction as a program in the A-10, despite their conference opening defeat against VCU. This is a game the Patriots need to pick up prior to their upcoming road trip. We like George Mason to come through this evening as they go on to cover this spread against the Minutemen.
