San Diego State hasn’t lived up to their high billing this season standing 8-5 overall and 0-1 in the MWC. In their conference opener SDSU was upset at home losing to New Mexico by a final of 62-68. The Aztecs still bring that elite effort on the defensive side of the ball, but this group is a work in progress on the offensive end ranking 20th in the nation in points allowed compared to 259th in scoring average. San Diego State has been awful on the road this season standing 0-3 in true road tests with their more recent road losses coming against Loyola Chicago and Grand Canyon. The Aztecs are led by the talented Jeremy Hemsely who’s averaging 16.2 points per game.
Nevada got some hype coming into the year and this group has largely been living up to their expectations standing 12-3 overall and 1-1 in the MWC. Nevada came up just short in their last outing on the road losing to Fresno State by a final of 76-77. The Wolf Pack are undefeated on their home court so far this season, but this will be tested today. This group has been putting up some respectable numbers ranking 89th in the nation in scoring average and 147th in total defense. Missouri State transfer Marcus Marshall has made a huge impact leading the squad averaging 20.9 points per game.
We haven’t been all that impressed with what San Diego State has been showing us this season, especially on the road and the Aztecs face another challenge here going against one of the top teams in the MWC. Nevada has been solid at home throughout the regular season and we like the home squad to come through in this one as they go on to cover the spread.
