Boise State has been progressing nicely this season and the Broncos have found their stride winning their last 5 straight to stand 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the MWC. Boise State is looking like a serious competitor in the Mountain West and thus far and in conference play the Broncos have picked up competitive wins against Utah State on the road and against Colorado State the other day at home by a final of 74-73. The Broncos have shown progress this season and this group now ranks 80th in the nation in total defense and 162nd in scoring average. The Broncos have shown the ability to play well on the road and this group has been led by Chandler Hutchison who’s averaging 18 points per game.
UNLV wasn’t expected to be a serious competitor in the MWC coming into the year and the Rebels have been living up to that billing as this group stands 8-7 overall and 1-1 in conference. To be fair to UNLV they’ve gone against a fairly challenging slate, but this group has been consistently coming up short in their tougher tests. The Rebels are actually coming off one of their better wins of the year as UNLV got past Wyoming the other day at home by a final of 81-75. UNLV has been a work in progress ranking 198th in the nation in scoring average and 241st in total defense. Jalen Poyser leads the way averaging 14.1 points per contest.
Boise State came through for us on the road against Utah State to open conference play in the MWC and the Broncos have another good shot at a road win here. UNLV is coming off a nice home win against Wyoming and it’ll be interesting to see how the momentum carries over into this matchup. We like the Broncos to come through as they go on to cover the spread.
