The Montana Grizzlies came through the other day on the road against Idaho beating the Vandals by a final of 70-57. Montana is one of the top threats to win the Big Sky and the Grizzlies currently stand 2-1 in conference with their loss coming against Weber State by 3 points. Montana went against a brutally tough nonconference slate which has prepped this group well for action in the Big Sky, especially on the road. Montana is one of the better coached teams in the league and this squad has been led by Oregon transfer Ahmaad Rorie who’s averaging 16.7 points per game.
Eastern Washington hasn’t faced quite the competition that Montana has so far this season and in their toughest nonconference games the Eagles fell in significant fashion on the road against Northwestern and Xavier. Eastern Washington has handled their business thus far in conference play getting past Idaho on the road and Montana State the other day at home by a final of 82-64. The Eagles like to play up tempo and on the year this group ranks 132nd in the nation in scoring average and 278th in total defense. Bogan Bliznyuk has led the attack averaging 19 points per game.
We like the toughness of this Montana squad and feel they have the makeup to make a push for the Big Sky regular season title in what is an up year overall for the league. Montana looked great for us the other day on the road against Idaho and we like for that momentum to carry over for the Grizzlies as they go on to cover the spread.
