The Michigan Wolverines are expected to float around the mid and upper tier of the Big Ten this season and a big reason for that is because versatile big man Moritz Wagner decided to stay and play another year for the Maize n Blue. Michigan hasn’t dominated out of the gate, but this group has been steady standing 7-2 overall with their best wins coming against VCU and Indiana. In their defeats Michigan fell to LSY by 2 points and UNC by 15 in a true road setting. Wagner has led the squad averaging 15.6 points and 8.4 boards per contest.
Ohio State is certainly heading in a better direction under their new head coach, but it’ll still take some time to get this program back to where they were a decade ago. Ohio State has been challenging themselves opening the year 6-3 overall with some of their better wins coming against Stanford and Wisconsin. In their defeats Ohio State lost to Gonzaga and Clemson by double digits, and to Butler by 1 point. Ohio State impressed in their last outing getting past Wisconsin on the road by a final of 83-58 and Bates-Diop has led the way averaging 17.3 points and 10 rebounds per contest.
This is a great rivalry matchup, and even though it’s not as big of a deal as the football game, there’s still a lot of pride on the line when these two basketball teams go head to head. We expect a competitive contest, but we like Michigan’s experience and three point shooting to be the difference maker as the Wolverines go on to cover the spread.
