Minnesota looked impressive in their Big Ten opener the other day taking down Rutgers at home by a final of 89-67. Minnesota had elevated expectations coming into the year and the Gophers have been largely living up to that billing standing 8-1 overall with their only loss coming against Miami. Minnesota has shown they can get the job done on the road winning at Providence by a final of 86-74 and if the Gophers are going to be a top tier Big Ten squad then these are the kind of road games where Minnesota needs to take care of business.
Nebraska hasn’t gone against the toughest schedule by any means so far this season standing 6-3 overall with losses coming in their 3 tougher games against Saint John’s, UCF, and in their last outing against Michigan State by a final of 57-86. Nebraska has had a tough time keeping competitive with higher tier competition so far this season and that’s not a huge surprise for this developing group. Without having a calming veteran type player like Tai Webster around it’s going to be harder for the Huskers to compete against strong opponents this year.
These teams couldn’t have had more different conference openings with Nebraska getting throttle by MSU and Minnesota disposing of Rutgers. We like Minnesota to utilize their veteran leadership on the road, similar to what they showed at Providence, as the Gophers go on to win and cover the spread.
